Jakob Lehmann (1840–1875) [1]
Lehmann was the son of a baker and worked as a pharmacist in his native town of Zofingen. He took part in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 in the ranks of Bourbaki’s army. Later he entered the service of the Swiss Confederation and was a staff captain and director of the federal munitions factory. An avid mountaineer, he was one of the founders of the Blümlisalp section of the Swiss Alpine Club and its first president. However, shortly after his appointment, he was seriously injured by an explosion while manufacturing a new primer and died shortly afterwards at the age of 35.
