In 1879 the publishing house P. Eckerlein in Leipzig published a school atlas named “Plastischer Schul-Atlas über alle Theile der Erde in 22 Karten/nach Reliefs und Zeichnungen von G. Woldermann” (Plastic school atlas about all parts of the earth in 22 maps / after reliefs and drawings by G. Woldermann). The relief of Switzerland was probably created in this context. Woldermann, who worked for the Stieler atlas, produced various reliefs and also collaborated on other plastic school atlases.
