Georg Bauerkeller (1800–1899) [1]

Bauerkeller owned the book printing company Bauerkeller & Cie in Paris. Around 1830, he developed a special embossing process, “geomontography,” with which he began to produce relief maps and school atlases. This process made relief production, which had previously been costly, less expensive and thus useful for popular education. His relief models were known for their high scientific accuracy at that time and were awarded prizes at industrial exhibitions. His relief models of various European territories were sold at home and abroad.
