Fritz Siegenthaler (1897–2002) [1]

Siegenthaler was a teacher for the upper school at Moosegg near Lauperswil from 1918 to 1965. In 1925 he created the first relief as a teaching aid for the school. But it was not until 1976 that he began an extensive relief production. He produced his step models for banks, municipal administrations and museums – mainly of the surroundings of his native Emmental, but also of more distant parts of Switzerland. Shortly before his death, at the age of almost 105, he created the last relief. He will thus probably have been the oldest relief maker ever.
