Federico Sacco (1864–1948) [1]

Sacco, born in Fossano (Italy), worked as professor of geology and later as director at the Politecnico di Torino. He was also a member of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino and president of the Committee for Glaciology in Italy and of the Italian Alpine Club CAI. He wrote about 600 papers on geomorphology and paleontology, including several monographs on glaciers. He was also very interested in speleology.
